Keep in mind, money is a symbol for abundance. When working with this feng shui bagua area, you may need to unpack and examine poverty mentality and other ways you identify with lack in order to open a pathway to receive prosperity. To find the wealth area of your home, stand at the main entrance looking in, and imagine a three-by-three grid laid over the space. The far left corner is the wealth area. You can also start simple and just work with the bedroom, which represents you. To find the wealth area of your bedroom just follow the same instructions above. Here are our best feng shui tips to enhance your abundance area.

Notice What’s Happening

Feng shui teaches us that our inner worlds and our outer environments mirror each other. One of the best ways to start working with feng shui is to simply notice and become more aware of what is going on in your home.  Take a look at the wealth corner of your home. Is it clean and well cared for? Or is it collecting dust and clutter? Once you’ve taken a moment to notice what is happening here, you might want to think about what that could represent when it comes to wealth and abundance in your life.

Repair Broken Items

From a feng shui perspective, it’s always a good idea to fix or let go of any items that are broken. When there’s something in your home you know you should fix, it takes up mental space and adds to your stress levels. Broken items in the wealth area can also indicate difficulties in this area of your life. If it’s beyond repair, or isn’t meaningful enough to spend the time or money to fix it, let it go.

Declutter

When you look at your wealth area, do you notice a lot of unnecessary items that you’re not using? Often we hold onto things that are no longer useful because we are afraid we might need it one day, which is really a lack mentality. Letting go of these items, and only keeping the things we really need and love, can help to build trust in abundance.

Add the Wood Element

One of the tools that feng shui practitioners use to adjust the energy of spaces is the five element system. The wealth area is connected to the wood element in feng shui, so adding wood element decor here can help to activate this area of your life. There are several ways to do this. One great way to add more wood is with a plant. Real, living plants are always best from a feng shui perspective. You can also incorporate wood element colors (blue, green, and teal) into your decor.

Add the Water Element

The five elements represent different aspects of nature that interact with each other in predictable ways. For example, the water element feeds and nourishes wood. This makes sense if you think about it: trees and other plants need water in order to grow and thrive.  Since the wealth area is related to the wood element, you can also add the water element to help feed wood in this area. You can do this by adding black or deep navy or charcoal gray, which are all connected to the water element. Another way to introduce the water element is with artwork that includes images of water, like rivers or waterfalls.

Bring in a Money Tree

While any plant could be helpful in the wealth area, there are some varieties that have a special connection to this concept. Money trees are often used as feng shui adjustments to invite abundance and prosperity.

Decorate With Purple

The wealth area is also related to the color purple, so another way to activate abundance in your life is to include purple items here. Amethyst crystals are a great way to add a touch of purple. You can also place a vase of fresh purple flowers here. Just make sure to change the water and cut the stems regularly, to keep your flowers fresh, and replace them when they’re past their prime! Other purple decor items, like throw pillows or artwork, work well, too.

Add Citrine

Citrine is a beautiful crystal that is often used to invite in more abundance and success. You may want to place a piece of citrine in the wealth area of your home or office, or even in the abundance area of your desk. You can also carry a small piece with you.

Cultivate Generosity

If you really want to create more wealth in your life, it’s important to move out of a poverty mindset into an abundance mindset. Think back to the wealth area being connected to the wood element, and picture a big tree, abundant with fruit. A tree like this encourages sharing and generosity, and reminds us that it doesn’t benefit us to hoard resources.  How can you share your abundance, like a big fruit tree? Maybe you can donate to an organization that you believe in, or support a small business. You can also share in ways that don’t involve money. Can you share kindness, time, or expertise? Do you have items in your home that you don’t need, that could be gifted or donated to someone who could really use and appreciate them?
