Design: Online vs. reality

Based on photos alone, Lush Decor’s Boho Stripe 3-Piece Quilt Set looks to feature a bohemian patchwork print and vibrant tangerine and teal hues that really bring it to life. In-person, though, the quilt isn’t as impressive as its stock photos may lead you to believe. The colors and patchwork floral and geometric patterns feel a bit random, and not random in a good way. The black and white sections, in particular, are jarring given the rest of the quilt is predominantly bright solids and boho-chic prints.  On a positive note, this is a reversible quilt which is a plus for those shopping on a budget as you get two quilts for the price of one. Not to harp on the negatives, but that’s really the only nice thing we can say as the reverse side is an all-over geometric diamond print in drab orange, teal, and red hues. This side is definitely as bold as the other, but not nearly as attractive. Two included shams also feature a mix-and-match design that pulls from each side of the quilt.

Material: Cheap but breathable

Lush Decor’s Boho Quilt is outfitted with a 100-percent cotton shell and a cotton-poly blend fill. The touch and feel of the quilt is highly disappointing. It feels similar to a hotel bedspread—the ones experts frequently say you should strip off before crawling in and going to bed. Needless to say, the Lush Decor quilt was not pleasant to sleep with and it was hard to believe that it was even made of cotton as it felt more like a cheap satin that wasn’t pleasant to touch.  When it comes to warmth, that’s one area where the quilt gets the job done. Lush Decor advertises the boho as an all-season option and we’d agree with that assessment. It retains heat well while maintaining breathability and not being overly hot, which to us—someone who typically sweats during the night—was a positive.

Washing: Wash immediately upon opening

We also found that this quilt had an unpleasant smell straight out of the packaging. This is probably to be expected for anything that has been sealed inside of the plastic, but it was significantly pungent and didn’t go away until having gone through a wash cycle.  Luckily, the quilt is machine washable which is very convenient. It’s a very large quilt, though, so if you have access to a commercial-size washer, like those at a local laundromat, then we would highly recommend that. We used standard detergent and the care instructions advise non-chlorine bleach when needed. Both the quilt and shams can go in the dryer.

Price: Not worth it

With a price tag of $90 to $99 (depends on the size you’re purchasing), we don’t think Lush Decor’s Boho Stripe Quilt Set is worth it. The material feels cheap and the design looks better online than in person, so we’d advise looking at other options first.

Lush Decor Boho Stripe 3-Piece Quilt Set vs. Exclusivo Mezcla 3-Piece Paisley Boho Quilt Set

Lush Decor’s Boho Stripe 3-Piece Quilt Set didn’t impress us by any means. It looks and feels cheap, and isn’t something we’d want to be stuck with for the long haul. While it’s more budget-friendly than direct-to-consumer competitors like Brooklinen, Parachute, and Snowe, we think their high-quality materials are worth the splurge since you’ll be sleeping with the quilt every night.
