Pyrite Meaning

Pyrite is a popular crystal for many reasons. It’s a powerful protective stone that creates a shield against negative energy. Pyrite has a connection to the solar plexus chakra (chakras are strong energy centers within the body) and is used to increase strength, energy, willpower, and confidence. It’s also a wonderful abundance stone, encouraging wealth, prosperity, and success. It’s connected to the sun which has a bright, yang fire energy.

Healing Uses of Pyrite

Not only does pyrite protect against negative energy and attract positive energy (wealth, abundance, opportunity), it also serves to release and neutralize any negative energy that has accumulated. Fearful energy that may be blocking success can be discharged by the presence of pyrite.

Uses in Feng Shui

Activate Xun, the Wealth Corner

Pyrite is a potent stone when it comes to cultivating abundance and prosperity. It’s a great stone to work with if you want to develop an abundance mindset and welcome more wealth. Because of pyrite’s connection to abundance, placing this crystal in the wealth corner of your home is a great way to activate this area. The wealth corner, called Xun in Chinese, is the area of the feng shui bagua that is connected to abundance, prosperity, and self-worth. It is located in the far left corner of your home when you are standing in your front door looking in.

Activate Your Home Office

In feng shui, your desk and office represent your career. If you are looking to bring in more wealth and abundance through business or work, try placing pyrite on your desk or in your home office to amplify those intentions. You can even place it in the far left corner, or the wealth area, of your desk.

Activate Your Front Door

When it comes to wealth, another area of the home we often look to in feng shui is the front door. The front door is known as the mouth of qi because this is the main way that qi, or life force energy, enters your space. This means that an inviting and well-cared-for front door and entrance can help you call in more positive energy and opportunities. One way to activate and uplift this area is to place pyrite here. As you place your pyrite, set an intention for how you would like it to support you in inviting new energy into your life.

Activate the Tai Qi, the Health Area

The center of the feng shui bagua is called the Tai Qi, and it is connected to your overall wellbeing. It touches all of the bagua areas around it, just like your state of wellness touches every other area of your life. This means that working with the center of your home can really help you create a strong foundation. You can find Tai Qi by locating the center of your home (or your bedroom).  Pyrite can be a beautiful addition to the Tai Qi because of its warm, positive, radiant energy. Pyrite is also known to prevent energy leaks, which can be a drain on your wellbeing. Try placing a piece of pyrite in the center of your home or bedroom to uplift the energy of your home and invite more positivity, joy, energy, and confidence.

Activate Li, the Fame Area

There’s also an area of the feng shui bagua called Li, which is associated with fame, your passion, and how you’re recognized in the world. This area is also related to the fire element. If you’re feeling like you’re not being seen, this is an area that you might want to work with. Perhaps you are getting overlooked for a promotion at work, or you are starting a new business or project that could use more visibility or acknowledgment. One way to activate the fame area is to place pyrite in here with intention. To find Li, stand in your front doorway looking in and imagine a three-by-three grid laid over your space. The far center section is the fame area.
