The Sweet Home Collection 1500 Thread Count Sheet Set is a six-piece set that comes with a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and four pillowcases—and all of that can be found for around $25. Is it really possible to sell a high-quality sheet set at that low, low, price? We wanted to figure it out for ourselves, so we snuggled up in bed and put the Sweet Home Collection sheets through the sleep test. Material: A wide selection of colors, patterns, and finishes
When these sheets first arrived, I was immediately shocked by the color. While they were in the package, the pink looked way too intense. It was like a huge block of shrink-wrapped Double Bubble! Thankfully, once they were unfolded, it looked much less saturated. By the time I slipped my last pillow in its cover, I was in love. The pink was light and subtle and reflected the light from the windows in a way that made the whole room seem warmer. If that doesn’t sound nice to you, don’t worry! These sheets come in 45 different colors, so there’s bound to be something for everyone. Most of the options are solid colors, but you can also find pinstripe, paisley, and several other patterns.
Thread Count: Misleading marketing!
While these sheets are labeled “1500 Thread Count,” upon further examination, we discovered this title is pretty misleading. The phrase “thread count” is tossed around frequently during sheet shopping. When it’s used correctly, the actual term refers to the number of threads per square inch of fabric. The higher the number, the denser the weave. High thread-count sheets are softer and more durable than their low-thread counterparts. They are also typically more expensive than lower thread-count sheets, even if both options are made from the same material. Sheets with a thread count between 600-800 are considered very high quality. A 1500 thread count is through the roof. If you’re suspicious about a set of 1500 thread-count sheets for $22 dollars, you’re right to be. Online reviewers pointed out that deep in the product description these sheets are actually described as having “the comfort and soft touch AS A 1500 THREAD COUNT sheet set,” but the sheets themselves are just described as a polyester microfiber.
Texture: Thin, soft, polyester
The microfiber polyester fabric is very soft and feels great at first touch. However, it’s also very thin. So thin, in fact, that you’re able to see your hand through the fabric. The thinness didn’t affect the overall comfort level during the night, but it did make us worry that these sheets would pill and wear out quickly. When compared to cotton, polyester is much more wrinkle resistant. After just one pass with the iron, these sheets were totally wrinkle-free, and they stayed looking presentable even after a night’s sleep. The polyester blend also has the benefit of being hypoallergenic. However, synthetic fabrics do come with drawbacks: These sheets don’t have the crisp and cool feeling of cotton sheets. Polyester is inherently less breathable than a natural fiber, so in the warmer months, these sheets aren’t going to keep you cool like a cotton product would.
Quality: We have some doubts
In addition to being thin, the construction quality of these sheets is pretty bare bones. Unfortunately, as I was unpacking the sheets, I noticed that all of the pillowcases had long strands of loose threads hanging around the edges. The seams seemed secure, but the dangling threads made the pillowcases look shabby even though they were brand new. Unlike many other sheet sets, the Sweet Home Collection pillowcases don’t have any decorative stitching around the edges. Instead, the raw edges are simply turned in. Even though the hems won’t have an impact on your sleep quality, they don’t pack much of an aesthetic punch. When it comes to sizing, these sheets were great. The fitted sheet snapped snugly onto the mattress, and it stayed put all night. The top sheet hung just past the mattress, but not all the way down to the floor. Making up the bed was easy.

Most standard sheet sets only come with two pillowcases; this Sweet Home Collection set came with four. I sleep with four pillows on my bed, so it was great to have everything covered in one set.
Washing: No noticeable change
These made it through a wash and dry cycle without much difference.
Price: Scary cheap
These sheets can be found for around $25 for the entire six-piece set in a queen-size (prices vary based on color choice and size). If budget is your main priority, that price will make these a tempting option. In this case, we’re worried that the quality reflects the low cost.

The Pottery Barn sheets are 100 percent cotton, and you can feel the difference in weave and texture instantly. Not only is the fabric thicker, but it also feels cool to the touch. The Pottery Barn pillowcases feature double pin-tuck hem borders that give the made-up bed a polished and put-together look. Side by side, the Pottery Barn sheets are thicker, cooler, and constructed with more care. Of course, there’s a downside, too: The Pottery Barn sheets are about $200 more expensive.
