Over the last year, we’ve spent hours researching and testing bath sheets from the top home brands, evaluating quality, durability, look and feel, and overall value. Our favorite, the Brooklinen Classic Bath Sheet, is super-soft, impressively absorbent, and available in more than a dozen neutral and limited-edition colors.  Here are the best bath sheets. Brooklinen is known for its super-soft, absorbent cotton towels, and its Classic Bath Sheets are every bit as wonderful. These oversized linens measure 40 x 60 inches and are made from long-staple Turkish cotton, ensuring they keep you warm and dry after your daily shower.  These bath towels come in a set of two, and each has a weight of 550 GSM, making them a mid-weight choice for your bathroom. They’re OEKO-TEX certified for chemical safety, and they can be machine washed and dried for easy care. We also love that the bath sheets come in several classic colors (as well as Brooklinen’s limited-edition hues), and you can return them for up to a year if you’re not happy for any reason. Over 100 happy customers love the thick and luxurious feel of these bath sheets. While more expensive than other options, the plushness, absorbency, and classic design make this purchase completely worth it. Price at time of publish: $85 One thing to note is that these affordable towels are on the smaller side—measuring 39 x 59 inches—and have the potential to shrink up to 6 percent in the wash.  Price at time of publish: $13 These splurge-worth bath sheets are 39 x 65 inches, and they’re extremely soft and thick to the touch. However, they still dry you off quickly and can withstand years of use with proper care, making them a worthwhile investment for your home. Price at time of publish: $78 These towels are made from 100 percent long-staple Turkish cotton, and they’re available in two muted hues. Despite being larger than usual, the bath sheets are fairly lightweight at 450 GSM, helping them to dry faster and prevent mildew growth. Our only complaint is that there’s only one bundle size available—we would have loved a four-towel option for smaller households. Price at time of publish: $462 These Turkish towels are made from 100 percent cotton, and they feature a traditional striped pattern. The lightweight fabric is highly absorbent, yet dries quickly, making it perfect for use on the go, and they have attractive fringe along the edges, which will look pretty hanging in your bathroom. Price at time of publish: $25 These bath sheets have a substantial weight of 800 GSM, and they’re extremely durable and absorbent. Just keep in mind that this heavy weight makes them dry slower than your average towel, so they’ll need to be hung in a well-ventilated room to prevent mildew growth. Price at time of publish: $46 Price at time of publish: $68 The waffle texture is sure to look pretty while hanging in your bathroom, but keep in mind that these towels have a different feel than regular ones—and it’s not for everyone. Still, our tester loved the attractive design compared with the softness and absorbency of the material. Price at time of publish: $15 Price at time of publish: $32

Material

“Strong, high-quality cotton is the most important factor in towel shopping,” says Elks. Cotton is universally accepted as the best towel material thanks to its soft feel and superior absorbency, but there are several types of cotton you’ll likely encounter as you shop. Turkish and Egyptian cotton varieties have longer fibers, meaning the resulting yarns are more absorbent and durable, while organic cotton is grown without any pesticides, ensuring it’s free from any potentially harmful chemicals.

Absorbency

The purpose of a towel is to dry off your body when wet, so it’s key to find a bath sheet that’s sufficiently absorbent. Materials such as Turkish and Egyptian cotton offer better absorbency than regular cotton (though even regular cotton is far superior to a synthetic material such as polyester). The construction of a towel will also impact its absorbency—terry cloth is one of the most absorbent materials thanks to its many small loops, which provide more surface area to suck up water.

Weight

You’ll frequently see the weight of towels measured in GSM, which stands for grams per square meter. Most towels are between 300 and 800 GSM, with 500-600 being your “average” towel. Lightweight constructions, such as Turkish towels or waffle towels, have a lower GSM, while thick, plush towels are often heavier.
