Material: 100 percent organic cotton and clean dye
Threshold’s sheets aren’t just made of organic cotton, they’re also OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified. Essentially, that means a third party—OEKO-TEX—has tested the sheets (the material and dye) to verify that they’re free of harmful chemicals and substances. This means you can sleep easy with the knowledge that your sheets are free from azo dyes, formaldehyde, nickel, and other regulated substances.
Design: Neutral and well thought out
Environmental and health concerns aside, these sheets are simply but geniously constructed. Each fitted sheet makes bed-making easy because in addition to traditional elastic edges, each corner features a second (and super thick) elastic band that allows it to hug your mattress snugly. The band also helps keep the sheet in place; we were able to go a few nights without having to tug down the corners. The second small touch we really appreciated was the handy little tags along the seam which read “Top or Bottom.” This prevented us from accidentally stretching the shorter side of the sheet over the longer side of the mattress. If you, like us, have a king-size bed that’s nearly square, you’ll understand how helpful this is! As for aesthetics, the line’s organic sheets come in four understated patterns which feature neutral and versatile colors. That means you can pick up a set for every bed in the house, from the nursery to the primary suite.
Texture: Soft and airy
Threshold’s organic sheets are soft and airy, but with a 300 thread count, they don’t feel cheap or threadbare. They’re also brushed for a smooth feel that still maintains its cotton texture (as opposed to jersey or flannel).

Wrinkle-haters be warned, though: Without chemical treatment, these sheets will maintain their crinkles, especially if you’re not in the habit of making your bed every morning.
Washing: Straightforward
Organic cotton sheets may sound fancy, but luckily, washing them is as simple as any other set. We were happy to find that all we had to do was machine wash them on warm (with like colors), then tumble them dry. Washing and changing sheets is enough of a chore to begin with, so we were glad there was no extra hassle when it came to proper care. After two washes, our sheets still held their shape and remained soft with no pills in sight. That said, they were quite wrinkly even when pulled straight from the dryer. We tried ironing them, and while that mostly did the trick, there were still some residual surface crinkles. And after one sleep, the wrinkles were back in full force.
Price: Impressively affordable
Prices for organic cotton bedding are all over the map, but Threshold Organic Sheets are definitely on the lower end. You can easily pay double (or more) for high-end organic sheets, and although there are some options that hover around the Threshold set’s price range, the OEKO-TEX certification does give consumers some added peace of mind. For their quality material and texture, the Threshold Organic Sheets would be a bargain made with conventional cotton, let alone organic. With twin sets coming in under $30 and king sets less than $60, you can give every bedroom in your home a subtle and enviro-safe update without breaking the bank.
Threshold Organic Cotton Printed Sheet Set vs. Magnolia Organics Dream Collection Sheet Set
Magnolia Organics’ Dream Collection sheets are available in a handful of rich colors—each with a lovely sheen. They feel a bit more dense than Threshold’s version, so if a heavier sheet is what you’re after, these are the way to go. The texture is not quite as soft, but it does have a satiny finish. They’re also GOTS certified—meaning they’re made with at least 95 percent organic fibers and clean dyes and produced through socially and environmentally-conscious practices. At nearly $85 for a king set, they’re a bit more expensive than Target’s line, but their pricing is still middle-of-the-road compared to the rest of the competition. Unless you can’t find a shade or pattern you really love, these sheets are absolutely worth the purchase. They’re comfy, versatile, and the price is truly unbeatable.
