When it comes to cleaning towels for cleaning surfaces or dishes, we love towels that have cute designs on them, but more importantly, we want towels that work as hard and as efficiently as we do. In our household of five kids, spills are a frequent occurrence. So, when we came across the opportunity to try out the Utopia Towels Kitchen Bar Mops cleaning towels, we were eager to investigate. In this review, we put them to the test. Read on to find out if these cleaning towels pass muster.
Performance: Almost makes cleaning fun
We love the superior drying, dusting, and wiping ability of these towels. Utopia Towels Kitchen Bar Mops cleaning towels are as good at wiping down dry items and surfaces (banister, doorknobs, or the counter) as they are at mopping up the wet stuff. We particularly like them for anything dusty, such as mirrors and appliances. Utopia Towels Kitchen Bar Mops Dish Towels are noticeably more absorbent and quicker at drying heavily wet items like dishes or tabletops than an average dishcloth. They are also fast drying, extra soft, and offer streak and lint-free cleaning. Plus, the towel’s terry cloth fabric is also perfect for anything that needs scrubbing and excels at cleaning dirt or debris off of upholstery. These towels come in a smaller size, which is great since unwieldy towels are often more hindrances than help. These towels are just large enough to have ample surface area to get the job done, but not so much that you have a lot of excess material in your way. It also feels more sanitary to have smaller towels for clean-up jobs instead of one larger one that you use for a longer period of time.
Design: Simplicity at its best
We love the simplicity of the design. They’re not made with any chemicals or synthetic materials. The towels are 100 percent terry cloth cotton, which is a fabric with uncut loops or pile. The towels’ loops on both sides of the towel give you extra surface area, giving them extra absorbency. The towels’ weave uses “zero-twist construction,” which refers to how the cotton fibers are held together or threaded into the towel. An extra combing process removes shorter fibers during manufacture, reducing shedding, fraying, and lint residue. This set of 12 Utopia Towels Kitchen Bar Mops are 16- by 19-inches. They are also lightweight and just the right size for a bar towel. The size is especially impactful as they often get wet, so a bigger size might create messes of its own or feel bulky to use. The ring-spun terry cotton fabric makes it light and absorbent and perfect for wiping down counters, drying dishes, and handling spills. Ring-spun refers to how the cotton fibers are processed. The strands are continuously spun, twisted, and thinned, which yields stronger, longer, durable, and softer fibers. These towels’ only drawback is that they are all work and no play, being plain-colored with no decorative design and were somewhat drab hanging in the kitchen. However, we appreciate these bar mops’ superior functionality, making it even more beautiful to us.
Ease of Cleaning: Super
Utopia Towels Kitchen Bar Mops are machine-washable and safe to put in the dryer on low. It is recommended to wash these new towels before use. We tested a white set. You can use bleach on the white towels if any stains don’t come out after a normal wash cycle. So far, we haven’t needed to use bleach; they come out of the dryer pristine white without any special treatment. After a few washes, our towels don’t look quite as fluffy as when new, but they have softened even more with use—and still work wonders.
Price: A good deal
Utopia Towels Bar Mops dish towels retail for about $20 for a set of 12. You can find them online for sale, usually for $15. At just over $1 each, this is a great price for such a hard-working, versatile kitchen helper. The price range for similar bar mops or terry cloth dish towels is about $10 to $20. You can find sets of thicker, “professional quality” bar mops for up to $70, so this set is a bargain for us.
Utopia Towels Kitchen Bar Mops Towels vs. Utopia Kitchen Flour Sack Towels
The bar mop towels and the flour sack towel sets are well-made, hard-working, and deserve a place in any kitchen. The Utopia Kitchen Flour Sack dish towels excel at drying damp counters, dishes, and produce. At about $24 for 12 dish towels, they are a few dollars more than the bar mops. They are also great for dusting, cleaning windows, and wiping hands. These flour sack towels can even be used as cheesecloth. Despite their thin weave, they are quite absorbent and quick drying and large enough to handle bigger jobs, such as drying all the veggies for a salad or wiping down woodwork and other home dust-magnets. But, the terry cloth fluffy pile from the bar mops outshine the drying department’s flour sack towels when it comes to absorbency. We would use flour sack towels for light drying, produce cleaning, or as hand towels. We prefer the bar mop towels for the heavier duty cleaning jobs. Utopia Towels Kitchen Bar Mops are superb kitchen dish towels that clean counters, dry dishes, dust, and pick up spills like a champ. These multi-taskers are also soft, a convenient size, and super absorbent, a must-have in any kitchen.
